This short video introduces you to the so-called Phang Thak, an Austro-asiatic type of loin loom, used in Bhutan, but also neighbouring Seven Sister States of NE-India. The triangular-shaped leading of the circular warp seems unique, at least in this size, but we may observe the use of this triangular-shape in the warp leading by some other (Austronesian) tribes on Taiwan. The stilts of this loom are made by bamboo canes, connected by a rope to the tree. Modern versions of this older stilt loom-type include two rails, what develops them to a stand-alone station loom-type. These modern station looms can stand by itself without any connection to tree, pile or wall. In addition of a platform to take seat on, they become a type of seat loom.
Take notice of the foot-brace, that shows out, why we like to argue, that even these comfortable loin loom-types are just a kind of more advanced foot looms!

Dieses kurze Video stellt den sogenannten Phang Thak, ein Austro-asiatischer Typus eines Hüftwebstuhls vor, wir er in Bhutan, aber auch darüberhinaus in den angrenzenden Sieben-Schwester-Staaten in Nordost-Indien gebräuchlich ist. Die dreieckig geformte Führung der zirkulierenden Webkette dieses bhutanischen Webstuhls erscheint einzigartig, zumindest in ihrer Größe, dennoch kann man den bewußten Einsatz von dieser Dreiecksführung auch bei manchen (Austronesischen) Stämmen auf Taiwan beobachten. Die Stelzen dieses Webstuhls sind aus Bambusrohren gefertigt, die mittels Seils an einen Baum befestigt wurden. "Moderne" Versionen dieser älteren Version eines Stelzenwebstuhls weisen noch zwei Schienen auf, die sie zu einer selbst-stehenden Webstation auszeichnen. Diese modernen Versionen stehen von alleine, ohne an einen Baum, Pfeiler oder Wand befestigt zu werden.Wenn man solch eine Station noch um eine Plattform zum Sitzen erweitert, erhält man die heutzutage in Bhutan stark verbreitete Version eines Sitzwebstuhls aus diesem immer noch aktiven Vorgängermodell!
Man beachte den Einsatz der Fuss-Stütze, die aufzeigt, warum wir betonen, dass auch solche komfortableren Hüftwebstühle nichts anderes als fortgeschrittene Fusswebstühle sind!
