With this Champa Station Loom of the Cham people we are going to reach Central Vietnam backstrap weaving. At the moment we are still busy setting up the space warper for that trip, tuning the beamed warp and the loom.
By the support of this gorgeous station-type of Austronesian loin loom we reach the lost Kingdom of Champa somewhere in time between 1st and 19th century CE. The kingdom of the Cham people is vanished from the map, but the Champa Station loom is still in use; even not many of them are left.
Station looms are the furniture-types amongst backstrap weaving loin looms. What makes the backstrap loom to a type of station loom is the fact, that nothing is driven into the ground and no stilt connected to the wall, to get this station loom working.
